SSOP Three-Dimensional Reconstruction of Tibia and Fibula for Applications in Biomechanical Fracture Models

چکیده

Context: Non-fatal injuries represent a public health issue. Among them, lower limb fractures have large impact on the costs related to orthopedic treatments. In this work, three-dimensional reconstruction of tibia and fibula was performed for biomechanical applications with purpose defining 3D parameters that allow reducing patients’ radiation exposure computational costs. Method: For reconstruction, computerized tomography taken from volunteer used, as well two software specialized in DICOM image (Mimics Research 3DSlicer). The number images included volume modified, results were compared. quality reconstructed volumes verified by comparing reference total images/slices vs. modified volumes. MeshLab used purpose. analyzed distance differences between alternative models, qualitative curvature analysis. Results: ANOVA Max (maximum meshes) response shows slices are significant factors. However, software-slices interaction did not influence. As RMS (root mean square) response, software, slices, significant. Mean Nevertheless, significantly influences response. These suggest potential way reduce cost patient’s future preoperatory analyses, since same can be obtained including fewer 2D reconstruction. Conclusions: surfaces smoother when Mimics is even though smoothness factor employed both during When 16 (retained every complete original model), increased bones (tibia fibula). RMS, using either one would show any thus allowing reduction patient. Comp. Commtd. Fracture of Tibia & Fibula: Amputation

a fissure was discovered extending upwards through the shaft of the tibia as far as the articular cartilage. It was accordingly f ound necessary to amputate at the knee joint. A broad anterior flap, and as long as possible, extending down, in fact, to the edge of the laceration, was dissected off", the joint was then opened and a short posterior flap cut through the muscles at the back. The joi...

Prosthetic reconstruction for tumours of the distal tibia and fibula.

We have carried out prosthetic reconstruction in six patients with malignant or aggressively benign bone tumours of the distal tibia or fibula. The diagnoses were osteosarcoma in four patients, parosteal osteosarcoma in one and recurrent giant-cell tumour in one. Five tumours were in the distal tibia and one in the distal fibula. The mean duration of follow-up was 5.3 years (2.0 to 7.1). Recons...

A case report of plastic deformity of fibula and fracture of tibia

Background: Plastic deformity is a fixed deformity of bones after application of force which is in contrast to elastic deformity, so it remains unchanged. It is a rare condition and is seen more commonly in upper extremity (forearm). Inability to recognize it causes limitation of motion and remaining of angular deformity. It occurs more commonly in children because of flexibility of their bones...

Bilateral stress fracture of distal fibula and tibia--case report.

The article presents a very rare case of bilateral distal tibial and fibular stress fractures in a 58-year-old white male. Excessive work load was undoubtedly the direct cause of the fractures as the patient's job involved carrying heavy (about 7 kg) packs of newspapers up stairs for 4 hours every night, with the distance covered amounting to approximately 80 floors. The available literature do...
